Parent teacher forms went home on Wednesday, asking if parents had specific times they could make it. I have recieved half of the forms back. Make sure you get those in if you have a preferred time.
In language arts this week we wrote a synopsis on our Goosebumps novel study. After we started proof reading and editing 3 of our other past writes, in preparation for writing up a good final copy. I am looking for proper punctuation and paragraph format with their writing samples this term.
In math we started our multiplication unit with a skip counting strategy. We worked with hundreds charts, skip counting and finding out the answer to difficult multiple questions. We already played a mult game to try and get 3 in a row.
In science we looked at 2 categories of energy: kinetic and potential. Kinetic is movement, and potential is stored. We also looked at some types of energy, such as mechanical, light, gravitational, and and thermal.
On Friday, as a reward, the class made our own ice cream. We completed a scientific method worksheet on the steps involved to make ice cream. We added our ingredients in a bag, surrounded it with ice, and shook it for a while. It was a lot of fun, and not too difficult. Very tasty at the end too!
We finished off our Regions work this week, and our brochures look great! Lots of good information, and many were very well layed out.
Next week we will look at breaking up numbers to help us with multiplication. We will finish off our good copies of our past writing work. We will perform a couple of experiment involving energy. We will start our natural resources unit in social studies.
Next week is also the book fair, as well as parent teacher interviews on Thursday. It’s going to be a busy week!
Have a good weekend, and see you on Monday.
