We had our first trip to Spencer this week, to check out last their band program. Those interested should sign up soon.
In math this week we looked at converting units of measurement, so cm to m, and mm to cm, etc.
In language arts we have been moving along with our novel study. We are up to chapter 30, and they are uploaded to our Google Classroom, for those who missed some days.
In social studies we started our new unit, making a timeline about Canada. Groups started researching specific areas of our countries history: residential school, provinces, war/disaster, Canadian identity, etc. They then chose 2 to 3 for next week, which they will research further.
We worked on the nervous system and urinary system in science this week. We learned that the central nervous system (brain and spine) send eletric pulses through the cells in our body to make it act. With the urinary system, we learned the kidneys clean and filter blood to make urea, which gets turned into urine, travels through the ureter to the bladder, then out the urethra.
We also finished off our brochures showcasing Le Carnival de Quebec.
Next week we will learn about perimeter and area of rectangles in math, listen to more of our chapters with our novel study, review the human body and take a final test, and start researching our timeline posts. Let’s see if we can jam it all in 4 days.
