Hello!

We conducted our market research this week, and it looks like most students got some good information to help guide their projects. Our field trip to the Lahal tournament was a success, as everyone had a great time.

In math we started our small money unit,  learning how to add and subtract using decimals. We also learned how to make a shopping list using the flipp app, and made meal plans for 3 days. Students were shocked about the price of some food.

In language arts we wrote about our trip on Wednesday to get some more paragraph practice. We also posted our Secret Rules stories for next week’s Literacy Week.

In social studies we finished off our tineline projects, and shared them with the class. We also took a deeper dive into the fur trade, as well as canada becoming a nation. We looked at the main events and the effects they had, positive or negative.

We also created some rebus puzzles for next week’s events.

Next week is our last before Spring break. We will be playing the price is right in math, learning how to make a Google Slides presentation, learning about the railroad and residential school system in Canada, and discussing the costs of materials with our project. Should be busy.

Have a good weekend, and see you next week.

Hello!

I hope everyone has had a chance to talk about the Young Entrepreneur project we are starting. Next week we will need those market research surveys back to help plan our products.

In math this week we learned how to find area, perimeter, length,  or width when some information is unknown or given. With area, you need to find the factor pairs, add them and double it: area is 24, factor pairs are 1×24, 2×12, 3×8, 4×6. With 1×24, 1+24=25, double it to get perimeter of 50. With 2×12, 2+12=14, double to perimeter of 28. With 3×8, 3+8=11 doubled to perimeter of 22.

In language arts we wrote up our novel study and created our book report. We discussed the main events, created our own refuses, and designed a personal library.

With social studies we worked on typing up our timeline posts and adding more information to each. Most of the students were able to finish them, but we will use Monday to finish the rest.

We had a small little French conversation quiz earlier on in the week. Students needed to introduce themselves and ask how eachother were doing. For the most part it went well.

We also worked on some pink shirt day artwork, designing our own inspirational shirts.

Next week we have our Lahal tournament on Wendesday, as well as the basketball Jamboree, so that will be a busy day. We will start our small money unit in math, finish up our timelines in social studies, and possibly look at making PowerPoint for science. Going to be a busy week.

Have a good weekend and see you next week.
