Hello!
It is starting to get warmer out there, just a reminder for hats and sunscreen.
In math we learned about equivalent fractions. We learned how whatever we multiply the top by, we must do the same to the bottom of our fraction. We also learned how to compare fractions by finding their shared equivalent factor.
In language arts we worked more on similes and metaphors with a rainbow poem. We needed to make comparisons of the different colours of a rainbow to the five senses. So red sounds like an ambulance, or green smells like fresh cut grass. Some were quite good.
In social studies we learned more about our local candidates for the upcoming federal election. We also had a good conversation about news and media bias. On Friday we did the student vote, some interesting outcomes for sure.
In science we started our earth science unit, looking at the rock cycle. We learned about igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, how they are formed, and their features. We also learned that each type of rock can eventually turn into a different type.
We managed to get our art pieces up from last week.
Next week we will quiz our understanding on equivalent fractions, learn how to turn fractions into decimals, practice more similes and metaphors, start our family heritage booklet, and participate in some rock cycle experiments.
Have a good weekend, and see you next week.
