Hello!
Another short one this week with the long weekend. On Monday and Tuesday we went over our young entrepreneur project, calculating our final profit. Some students made a small donation to our SPCA charity, while others chose to find their own. Most students were able to make some profit with their store. Others I hope learned some lessons.
In math we reviewed how to write fractions on a number line. It was a little tricky, but most seem to get it by the end of the week.
In language arts we started out poetry unit. We learned about some poetic devices, such as alliteration, hyperbole, simile, and metaphors. We then used these to make née acrostic poems about ourselves.
In social studies, we investigated the federal election parties, as we are doing the students vote next week. Students seemed to know a lot more this time around than back in October.
In science we presented our inquiry slideshows to the class. Students seemed to enjoy sharing what they worked on.
Next week we are looking a fractions of sets in math (3/4 of 16), using more similes and metaphors in poetry, look at the local candidates of the election, and start our next science unit: the rock cycle.
Should be another good week. Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. See you Tuesday.
