Hello!

Well things sure started off wild this week, with our class heat line malfunctioning and blowing 50 degree air inside. It seems to have been fixed for now, we will see how long it lasts.

We has our spring concert on Tuesday.  The grade 5s played their ukuleles well. There were a couple of non listening choices made, and we had a conversation about that.

We also went on the Red Dress walk on Tuesday,  to bring awareness to the missing and murdered indigenous women.

In math we learned more about decimal place value, what each value is worth, and how to order numbers. We learned that 5 285 is 5 + 0 2 + 0.08 + 0.005. We also learned that a larger numbers of 7.18 can be 7.19, 7.2, as well as 7.1819482.

In language arts we learned about two new poems: couplet and limerick. A couplet uses similar syllables with their lines, as well as rhyming the last words of every two (couple) lines. A limerick uses an AABBA rhyming format.  Students got pretty silly with their limerick.

Students also started their part 2 novel study booklet. Thought it seems like some students are already finished

In social studies we have been working hard to finish our family heritage booklets. We have about half the class finished, and will have everyone done next week.

In science we learned more aboutthw rock cycle, as well had science venture come in and teach more about rocks and minerals.the students had a great time and were very engaged.

Students also finished off their nail string art projects, they turned out pretty good.

On Thursday we got to see a mariachi band play, as well as sample some taco roll ups and church’s. It was a pretty fun time.

Next week we have our field trip to the legislative building and beacon hill on Wednesday, learn about adding and subtraction of decimals in math, finish off novel study book 2, learn about onomatopoeia in poetry, start researching a other country to compare with Canada in social studies,  review and take a quiz on the rock cycle in math, and possibly even take a French test. Looks like a other busy week.

Have a good weekend, and see you Tuesday (Monday is a pro d)
