Hello!

We had a pretty nice week, and the weather held out for our Red Dress walk on Friday. Check the local news to see if we made it.

In language arts we learned about limerick poetry, telling a short and funny story using rhyme and syllables.

We finished off our second book of our novel study, and did another book club review. Many good conversations, and some clarification for students who might have been a little confused of the events.

In math we learned how to change fractions to decimals, and decimals back to fractions. We found that turning fractions over 10, 100, and 1000 were pretty easy, but when they were over another number, such as 3/5, we needed to find an equivalent fractions 6/10, to convert it to 0.6.

In science we had Science Venture from Uvic come and teach us more about the rock cycle. They had students work on categorizing different rocks, researching types, and the mining and sale of minerals. They students were very engaged.

We have also been working on a string art project. By the end of the week half the students had finished nailing, and some were painted, we will finish that off Monday, and spend the week threading.

On Friday we took part in the Red Dress walk, to bring attention to the missing and murdered aboriginal women of BC and Canada. We had a good discussion, and did well at the ceremony at Veterans Memorial.

Next week the Spring Concert ticket order forms are due, so get those in. We will work on decimal place values,  finish our novel study with book 3, make some couplet poems,  and experiment with making different types of rocks.

Have a good weekend and see you Monday
