Hello!

We learned all about equivalent fractions this week in math, how the same amount of space is taken up, buy the number of pieces changes. So 3/4 is the same as 9/12. We practices multiplying and dividing to change fraction numbers.

In science we started learning about the rock cycle.  We started by looking at different types of rocks. Then we learned that all rocks can fit into 3 categories: igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary. They are all formed differently, and can change to others.

In language arts we worked on a new type of poem: cinquiane. There were a lot of rules to this poem,  so it took a while to get them complete.

We started our novel studies this week, where students got to choose one of three books: Island, Everest, or Dive. It is a 3 book series, and we finished the first book on Friday. We then broke into groups and had a small book club, discussing our thoughts on the book. Most of the students were very engaged with the conversation.

Next week we will learn to turn fractions into decimals, practice some limerick poems, have science venture visit our class to learn more about rocks, read book 2 of our series, and participate in the Red Dress Walk on Friday. Another full week.

Have a good weekend, and see you Monday.
