Hello!

We finished our first full week. Seems like everyone has settled in, and started getting back into the routine. Keep bringing in those verification forms, and fill out the online consents.

In math this week we spent some time reviewing everything we were supposed to learn in grade 4, to take the ‘End of grade 4’ test. It will be a good indicator to see where each student is at.

In language arts we created a word web about our summer, and wrote two to three paragraphs about what we did. Looking briefly over them, looks like most had a pretty good summer.

In social studies we looked at Canadian provinces and capital cities. We also labelled and created a map of Canada.

In science we learned about the scientific method, and went through a small experiment with a skittles. We observed how a skittles colour came off on our hand, then hypothesized that it was because of the heat. We then experimented with hot a cold water, and saw the skittles melted more with hot water. The next day we played ‘Whats in the box’, where students had to use their descriptive words to guess what’s in a mystery box.

For art we created our puzzle piece, connecting our class.

Next week we will be working on paragraph writing, learning about Terry Fox, starting French, learning more about patterns and tables in math, and finding out the best way to remove rust in science.

Have a good weekend, and see you Tuesday.
