Hello!

It was great to see everyone who came out for Meet the Teacher night. Hope everyone got a good look at the classroom. Any questions let me know.

In math this week we learned about how to recognize patterns and pattern rules. An example would be 12, 9, 14, 11, 16. The rule is ‘Start at 12, subtract 3, add 5’. We then looked at how to create T tables. So if Grey makes 12 cookies every hour, how many does he make in 4 hours.

In science we practices some scientific method by figuring out how to clean rust off of pennies. We researched and found citric acid or vinegar works. We hypothesized different materials. Then we experimented and found out that lemon juice or Ketchup was very good at cleaning rust.

In language arts we learned how to write a paragraph. We talked about a topic sentence, 3 to 5 idea sentences, and a concluding sentence. We practice writing a paragraph about cookies.

In social studies we learned about Terry Fox. We watched a video, read through an info booklet, and wrote a paragraph about him. They are on display in the hallway.

We started French this week, and practiced saying hello, asking how someone is, gave our response, and said goodbye. Students then took a survey to find out how who was feeling what.

On Friday we took part in our Terry Fox run, and it was great to see so many runners. We have 1 more week to bring in those Toomies to make me run.

Next week we will learn beginning algebra with mystery numbers, learning about Orange Shirt day, reviewing the states of matter, and starting our grammar unit.

Have a good weekend, and see you Monday.
