Hello!

A very short one this week. I hope everyone who wanted an interview was able to get one. If not, send me an email and we can book one in for next week.

In math this week we took a test in different multiplication strategies, then learned more about multiplying with 0s on the end of numbers (500×7000). This helped us estimate multiples of harder numbers (46 x 32, turned to 50×30) later on in the week.

In social studies we spent the week typing up our natural resource essay, and putting our booklet together. They are looking pretty good.

We also finished up the unit with a test on natural resources of BC. It showed what students were able to take in and share.

In science we learned about two new simple machines: the wedge and the screw. With the wedge, we practiced cutting the air with pointed paper air planes, amd then practices cutting apples with a blunt spoon vs a wedge knife. With the screw, we learned how an inclined plane wrapping around a shift makes a screw, then practices taking nails vs screw out of wood.

In french we learned about numbers 1 to 10. We practices some basic addition and subtraction with French. This will help us learn numbers to 100 eventually.

Next week we will learn how to multiply two digit by two digit (73×48) and 3 digit by 1 digit (473×7) using the box method strategy. We will start a new unit in social studies, learning about the levels of government. In science we will learn all about the pully simple machine, and experiment with lifting weight. We will also be working on descriptive writing in language arts.

Enjoy your long weekend, and see you Monday.
