Hello!

It’s funny how shorter weeks feel longer. We managed to cram a lot of events in this week.

We finished off our pattern unit with some review and a final test. Students did pretty well with it, after all the practice we did. I will be sending home a work package in a couple of weeks, and it will include their mark and assessment notes.

In science we started to learn about mixtures and solutions, and how each are defined. Mixtures are when two or more things are mixed together, but easily separated. Solutions are when they are difficult to separate.

In social studies we started our regions review unit. We looked at the different Canadian regions, and did a little research on a couple of them. This will eventually lead us into the natural resource unit.

In language arts we worked on creating silly alliteration sentences focusing on nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. So the stinky sasquatch stomped secretly, or the fiesty flamingo fought foolishly. Students really had a lot of fun coming up with their sentences.

In art we created our Picasso guess who self portraits. We used pastel, and then created clues about ourselves for others to guess. They are on display in the hallway.

Next week we are starting our whole numbers unit in math, learning to multiply  and divide with 0s attached to numbers. We will learn about mad libs in language arts, create a brochure on a region in social studies, and practice mixing up some mixtures and solutions in science. Should be another eventful week.

Have a good long weekend, and see you Tuesday.
