Wow, we had a Monday, it’s been a while.
In math this week we looked at standard form (397,720), expanded form (300000+90000+7000+700+20), and word form (three hundred ninty seven thousand seven hundred twenty). We also.loked at comparing numbers using greater than and less than symbols. We will have a quiz on Monday about it.
In language arts we listened to and entire Goosebumps story: A Night in Terror Tower. We took notes in the chapters, then wrote a synopsis on the book. This will help us do our own novel study next week individually.
In social studies we used venn diagrams to compare and contrast different regions. Then we took part in a group regions study game, and ended with a quiz today. Most students did very well with the quiz.
In science we learned about solvents vs salutes, where solvents (water) do the dissolving, and solutes (sugar) dissolve. We also learned about concentration levels, such as unsaturated, saturated, and supersaturated. We experimented with dissolving sugar to the point where the liquid was now saturated, then heated it up to supersarurate it. We will see if we can get some crystallization happening over the weekend.
Next week is our first full week in a while, and we will be starting our new social studies unit on resources, finish up our work on solutions in science, look at rounding and addition in math, start our goosebumps novel study in language arts, create some symmetrical pumpkins in art, and learn some French vocabulary.
